Lauren- La Esmeralda
Ballet Nevada LLC is
proud to announce that three of our students attended Youth America Grand Prix
(YAGP), a very prestigious international ballet competition, in the Bay area on
February 27, 2009. One of those students, Lauren- after performing a variation
from La Esmeralda- has been invited
to attend the YAGP Dance Intensive in New York City this April.
Lauren started
dancing with Ballet Nevada in 2003 when she was 8 years old. She began
her career as the Lead Twinkle Elf in "Christmas Carol". She is
now 13 years old and is an honor student at Mendive
Middle School. She loves to dance and would live at the dance
studio if that was an option. Our dancers competed with hundreds of
girls from all over the west coast including
Alaska and Hawaii. They then attended a San
Francisco Ballet performance of Swan Lake,
and attended an all day workshop at the San Francisco Ballet School where they
took classes from professional instructors/dancers from all over the
world.
Lauren has been invited to attend the
YAGP Dance Intensive in New York City, NY prior to its Closing Night Gala
featuring YAGP Finalists in the same program as the stars of some of the leading dance companies, Stars of Today Meet the Stars of
Tomorrow. This amazing event will take place at New York City Center on
Wednesday, April 22, 2009.
Ballet Nevada and its
affiliate Inner Star Performing Arts of Nevada, Inc (ISPAN), a nonprofit
corporation in the State of Nevada, are asking for your help to send Lauren to
NYC! Our goal is to raise money by mid-April to help cover her travel expenses. We
will gladly accept any donation possible for her to be able to attend this
phenomenal event.
